about

I am known for happy upbeat love songs, but on May 25, 2020, my life and the world changed. I along with the rest of the world witnessed the murder of George Floyd.

Feeling the pressure from overwhelming emotion, confusion, and anxiety, I channeled my thoughts, emotions, and energy into a song. I was compelled to collaborate with long time family friends and hip hop artists Johaz and Tony Da Skitzo, recording this soulful hip hop track appropriately titled "I CAN'T BREATHE", expressing my pain through song while allowing the song to breathe as Johaz & Tony Da Skitzo speak to the history of white supremacy and oppression in America.

lyrics

I can't breathe under all this pressure
I can't breathe and nothing you go through could ever measure

Cause I've been waking up to rainy days in summer
I have had enough of these cold days without slumber
All alone with my thoughts as my only company
They're taking my body and mind lost sense of time
Can anybody hear me

I can't breathe under all this pressure
I can't breathe and nothing you go through could ever measure

How you gonna breathe through a noose
Took his last breath of life
Blood stream through the roots
How many black panthers die just for speaking the truth
You think we all created equal spend a week in my boots
For surely we laced
See a black or brown face then for surely they hate
You see the high prison rate is based purely off race
We turn water into wine and then right back to grapes
Yeah melodic how we carry tunes
Roll a purple backwood over the cherry moon
Known to fertilize a flower that has barely bloomed
Hug your family cause s*** is getting scary soon
I wonder why they hate us so much
And why they treat us like some animals
It's crazy as f***
Tryna work a nine to five when you're scrapping up bucks
Get your knee off my neck I'm tryna blaze up this blunt

I can't breathe under all this pressure
I can't breathe and nothing you go through could ever measure

No filter off the top
I'm talking no lid
We chokin' and croakin' for more than cops in covid
No kids is on the playground and no heroes
A low frequency that's zeroing on the ego
I quarantined myself before the mandate
See us comin' 'round I just hope it's not too damn late
You damn straight I'm gon' stick to the papyruses
Music's supposed to heal but y'all deadlier than these viruses
I battled Baphomet and you don't know it's a problem yet
The constricting breads conflicting interest
Restricting my movements and you wonder where the groove went
Still we so blessed
This is our protest
Your knee been on my neck I mean symbolically
Figurative literally and slightly ironically
Considering who built this house
Cause if we leave you'll be singing this please believe

I can't breathe under all this pressure
I can't breathe and nothing you go through could ever measure
